David Ellis - This Sound

Songwriter: David Ellis

©2010 David Ellis

This Sound by David Ellis from his album The Broken and the Blamed resonates with the sound of worship. This Sound, with a modern rock worship style, conveys the idea of God as the music that fills His creation. The Lord's harmonies are for people of every age and race.

"Nothing can stop the sound of you
sweeping through this world
to every generation,
tribe, and every nation
you, filling the world with your harmonies,
Oh, this sound is you.
- David Ellis

I like the analogy of God's presence filling the world, much like the sound of an orchestra's music filling a concert hall. Just like the sound of music cannot be stopped from reaching every corner of the great room, God's 'sound' reaches to every ear, of those willing to listen.

After that comes the sound of his roar; he thunders with his majestic voice. When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back. God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.
Job 37:4-5 (NIV)
The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.
Psalm 18:13 (NIV)

Besides This Sound, David Ellis' The Broken and the Blamed includes the title song and three other modern worship songs.
